The Texas Department of Public Safety has released the identity of the individual suspected of murdering a 74-year-old man in Odessa after a multi-county manhunt ended in bloodshed.
According to TxDPS, the man has been identified as 26-year-old Trevor James Myrick of Hobbs, New Mexico.
The hunt for Myrick began on April 15 at around 10:30 a.m. after Ector County Sheriff’s Office members responded to a murder scene at a residence in West Odessa. Upon their arrival, a preliminary investigation revealed that Myrick had fled the scene with a black Ford Mustang stolen from the home.
On Tuesday, April 16, at approximately 4 p.m., TxDPS troopers located Myrick near the intersection of Duncan Avenue and North Broadway Street in Mertzon, and an officer-involved shooting took place. Myrick is now deceased, and the Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
